# Billing

> Review the current workspace plan, subscription state, plan options, seats, and owner-only billing controls.

Billing is the in-product source of truth for the selected workspace's current plan, price, interval, subscription status, included features, credit use, and available plan changes.

## Open Billing

Use either path:

* select the credit indicator at the bottom of the Company panel;
* open the avatar menu and select **Billing**;
* open **Settings > Billing**.

Always verify the workspace before changing a subscription.

## Plans

Alesta's public plan families are Free, Pro, and Enterprise. The exact catalog served in Billing controls what is selectable in the current environment.

| Plan       | General boundary                                                                                   |
| ---------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | One eligible, zero-rated domain-first profiling run and the bounded outputs included with that run |
| Pro | Monthly capacity for eligible workspace readings and user-initiated actions |
| Enterprise | Custom commercial scope, capacity, and confirmed capability availability |

Prices, discounts, billing intervals, feature labels, taxes, and checkout availability can change. Use the values shown in Billing or on the live [Pricing page](https://alesta.ai/pricing), not a screenshot or copied number.

## Who can change billing

Only the workspace **Owner** can:

* start checkout;
* change plan or billing interval;
* open the subscription-management portal;
* manage payment methods;
* schedule or undo a downgrade or cancellation;
* approve a seat-related billing change.

Admins can view relevant plan context but cannot complete owner-only billing actions.

## Start or change a plan

<Steps>
  <Step title="Review the current state">
    Check the active plan, subscription badge, billing interval, included
    features, seats, current period, and next billing date.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose an available plan">
    For a free workspace, select the current self-serve offer. For an active
    subscription, open **Upgrade plan** or the available plan grid.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the billing interval">
    Select monthly or annual only when the current catalog offers it. Read any
    interval-specific discount and total.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete the provider flow">
    A free-to-paid purchase can open Stripe Checkout. An active subscription
    change can use the transition flow shown in Billing.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for confirmation">
    Do not assume the plan changed because a payment page opened. Return to
    Billing and confirm the new server-reported plan and subscription state.
  </Step>
</Steps>

An immediate upgrade that cannot charge the payment method leaves the old plan in place. Update the payment method and try again only after reading the error.

## Scheduled changes and cancellation

A downgrade or cancellation can remain scheduled until the end of the current billing period. Billing keeps the current plan active and shows the effective date.

Use the available undo control if the workspace should remain on its present subscription. A scheduled cancellation takes precedence over a scheduled downgrade in the interface.

## Subscription notices

Billing can show notices for states such as:

* trialing;
* active;
* payment confirmation required;
* past due, unpaid, or incomplete;
* scheduled plan change;
* scheduled cancellation;
* expired subscription setup.

Follow the specific notice. Do not infer access from the last payment attempt.

## Seats and invitations

Inviting an Admin can change the subscription quantity. The Team invitation flow can preview the new seat count and any prorated amount before the Owner confirms.
