# Domain and analysis issues

> Resolve invalid domains, missing handoffs, slow profiling runs, wrong workspaces, and per-surface analysis failures.

Use the symptom below to identify whether the problem is domain validation, workspace selection, a run still in progress, or a specific source failure.

## The domain is rejected

Check that the input:

* is a public hostname such as `example.com`;
* contains no spaces;
* is not a local, private-network, or credentialed address;
* points to the intended company site;
* has a valid public suffix.

Enter the hostname without a long page path or query string. The server owns final validation, so read the inline field message before trying another format.

## The app asks for the domain again after signup

The marketing handoff cookie lasts up to 30 minutes and belongs to the environment where it was created.

The handoff can be missing if you:

* completed signup in another browser or device;
* cleared cookies;
* waited beyond the handoff window;
* moved between production and staging;
* blocked the required first-party cookie.

Enter the domain in the application dialog. Alesta can still create or resolve the correct workspace.

## The site cannot be reached

Confirm the site opens without authentication in a normal browser. Check for:

* DNS or TLS errors;
* maintenance pages;
* bot or firewall blocks;
* redirect loops;
* a homepage that requires a login;
* regional access restrictions.

Alesta uses bounded public access. Do not send private credentials to bypass a site restriction.

## The analysis is taking longer than expected

There is no universal completion time. Site size, crawls, model work, and provider response times vary.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the global indicator">
    Read the current phase and percentage. A changing phase or percentage
    indicates active work.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Logs > Activity">
    Look for recent progress, searches, skipped work, and completed milestones.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use Operations when needed">
    Check the newest technical line and status only if Activity does not explain
    the delay.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review individual surfaces">
    A document can still be preparing while profile and SEO panels are already
    ready.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Do not repeatedly recreate the workspace or submit the same domain while a run is active.

## The progress indicator finished but a panel is empty

Run completion does not mean every possible capability produced data. Read the panel state:

* **Unavailable** means the source did not return usable evidence.
* **Not measured** means the run did not ask that question.
* **Locked** means the plan did not include the reading.
* **Disconnected** means a private provider is required.
* **Coming soon** means the surface is not built.

See [Read partial and unavailable results](/guides/read-partial-and-unavailable-results).

## The wrong company appears

Open the workspace switcher and select the intended company. Confirm the route and domain. Any open document or competitor tabs from the previous workspace should close automatically.

If the header and content still disagree, refresh once. Do not start an action until both identify the same workspace.

## A document or competitor stays in progress

Check **Logs > Activity** and the item status. Long-running competitor changes can also update dependent documents. If no status changes and Operations shows a terminal failure, preserve the visible error and contact support.

## Contact support

Include:

* workspace name and domain;
* affected panel, document, or competitor;
* approximate start time;
* current phase and percentage if shown;
* last useful Activity or Operations message;
* safe screenshot with secrets removed.

Never include passwords, tokens, cookies, private keys, or payment-card information.
