Alesta proposes likely competitors from public company and market evidence. A proposed domain is a candidate for human review, not a final declaration that the companies compete in every segment.

Review a competitor

Select a competitor in the Company panel to open its detail view. Depending on the available evidence, the view can include:
  • name, domain, and discovery source;
  • a public description;
  • public social context;
  • potential advantages;
  • differences versus the current company;
  • changelog and pricing research for eligible workspaces;
  • placeholders for longer-term engagement trends or messaging shifts.
The header distinguishes a manually added competitor and shows Researching… while a new profile is still filling in.
Empty detail fields during active research do not mean Alesta finished and found nothing. Read the action state before interpreting the content.

Edit the competitor set

Eligible workspaces can stage several changes before applying them together.
1

Enter edit mode

Select the edit control beside Competitors in the Company panel. A lock opens the plan boundary.
2

Mark removals

Select the remove control on any candidate that does not belong in the set. The row is marked but nothing changes yet.
3

Add domains

Enter one or more replacement or additional company domains. Alesta validates and canonicalizes the result on save.
4

Review the draft count

The product applies the server’s current competitor limit to the resulting set, not just the number of additions.
5

Save or discard

Select Save to apply the batch or Discard to abandon every staged change.
A batch uses one set-level lock. While it runs, other competitor edits are disabled. New domains can show research progress, removed domains can show removal progress, and dependent analysis can show Rewriting analysis….

Remove from the detail view

An eligible competitor detail pane also has a removal control. Confirm the decision before Alesta starts the action. Removal can take time because documents that mention the competitor may need to update.

Changelog and pricing

This panel is a deeper, plan-gated reading. Its state matters:
  • a free workspace sees the Pro boundary;
  • an eligible workspace that has not reached the collection step should not claim the competitor publishes nothing;
  • a completed collection with no results can legitimately remain empty;
  • a completed collection with data shows the public entries and available pricing tiers.
Do not purchase a plan solely expecting a particular competitor to publish usable changelog or pricing evidence.

What makes a good competitor set

Keep candidates that share a meaningful overlap in product, audience, category, positioning, or search intent. Remove companies that only share a broad industry label or a superficial keyword. When uncertain, retain the candidate long enough to inspect the evidence and differences, then make an explicit decision.
